Chole
Ingredients

Chana (chick pea) -- 1 1/4th
cup

Chopped Onions -- 3/4 th cup

Tomato -- 1 cup (made into
thick paste)

Garlic -- 2 to 3 cloves
(Chopped into small)
-
Ginger -- 1 inch piece
(Chopped into small)
-
Coriander leaves -- 1 tbsp
-
Green chilli -- 2 to 3
-
Garam masala & Chilli powder
-- 1 tsp of each
-
Salt to taste, and
1/2 tsp
of Turmeric.
you can use tomato puree too
Method:
- Soak Chana in water overnight or for
about 6 hrs.
- Cook the chana with a pinch of baking
soda, turmeric and salt in the cooker. Allow it to whistle
thrice or until soft. Do not overcook.
- Remove the excess water and keep
aside. Take 2 tbsps of oil in a pan and heat it.
- Add cummin (jeera) and mustard seeds.
Now add the chopped onions and fry until brown. Add Garlic, Ginger ,
Garam Masala and Chilli powder to this and let let it cook for a
minute. Add cut Tomatos, and let the tomatoes cook
- Next, add the cooked chana.
- Let this cook for a few minutes on low flame.
- If the chana are too watery, you could mash half cup of chana and
add it back.
- Garnish with a
cilantro(coriander) leaves. Serve Hot with Poori's or Hot Rice.
